People with diabetes always fear on what they have to eat. After reading this diet plan below I am sure that this fear will disappear. The intake of sweets has to be reduced and be careful on the amount of carbohydrates you take daily. Plan your diet with correct amount of nutrients and regularize the time you eat with less amount of food with increasing the frequency of your intake. It is better to avoid intake of alcohol and reduce the amount of sugar.
Plan your diet as per calories that you are supposed to take. Out of the total daily calorie intake 45% to 65% of carbohydrates, 15% – 20% proteins and 20% – 35% fats. Eat fruits and vegetables to get right amount of minerals and vitamins. These fruits and vegetables must be taken 5 servings a day especially giving more importance to vegetables.
American diabetic association recommends vegetables like spinach, broccoli, cabbage, asparagus, mushrooms and string beans, which have low amount of carbohydrates to be included in the diet of the patients having diabetes.
Since fruits contain carbohydrates. So while including fruits in your diet also look into the amount of carbohydrate you have planned for the day and accordingly chose the right type of fruit in your diet. Fruits like apple, berries and peaches can be included in the diet.
